Postpartum Survival Guide From A Cool (Tired) Mama

Posted by Amber Rawlings on

Okay listen, postpartum is a lot. It’s beautiful, magical, love-at-first-sight vibes... and also leaky boobs, night sweats, and Googling “is this normal??” at 3am while your baby sleeps (but only on you, of course).

So from one new mama to another, here’s my no-BS list of postpartum musts to help you feel a little more human, a little more like you, and a lot more comfy.

1. Prioritize REST like it’s your full-time job

Sleep is now a rare and magical unicorn. You’re up all night with feedings, so make every ounce of rest count. Think: buttery soft pajamas, like the Luna in Olive. I lived in my Isabel Silk Pajamas and the Haven Robe. It’s like being wrapped in a cloud that says “you’ve got this, mama.”

 2. Get Dressed… Kinda

No one’s expecting full glam here. But carving out five minutes to throw on something that makes you feel comfortable and cute is a game-changer.

 3. Meal Prep = Life

The last thing you want to do when you’re running on zero sleep and haven’t washed your hair in four days is cook. Future You will be so thankful when Past You stashed freezer-friendly meals or snack boxes.

 4. Eat snacks + chug that hydration

No joke, I set alarms to remind myself to eat. Your body is healing, feeding a baby, and running on fumes, fuel it. Keep trail mix, protein bars, and electrolyte drinks on deck. Coconut water and those fancy hydrating powders? Not just a trend. They're a lifeline.

5. Padsicles.

Just trust me. You’ll thank yourself when the postpartum soreness hits. DIY them or grab pre-made ones, but either way, they’re essential.

6. Nursing Tops = Freedom

Function and fashion, baby. You want pieces that make feeding easy without sacrificing your vibe. These are my go-tos:

You’re doing amazing

This season is wild. You might cry because you’re exhausted, then cry because your baby smiled, then cry because you’re out of clean burp cloths. It’s all part of it.

So take it slow, be soft with yourself, and if you need a little reset, start with pajamas, snacks, and cute postpartum clothes. You deserve to feel good, even in the chaos.

xoxo,
your fellow postpartum girlie 💕
